Penny Lane

“Penny Lane” is a band based in the Sacramento area, mixing the great melodies of the 1960's Beatles, in an acoustic format. We are a vocal/instrumental trio inspired by the music of the 1960s rock radio stations. Penny Lane uses a melodic interweaving of Percussion, Acoustic Guitar, Slide Guitar, Harmonica and Flute to push the boundaries of rock to include shades of blues, rhythm & blues, and world music. We play at a volume that allows people to comfortably chat with their friends.

The band performs a stunning cycle of vocal and all-instrumental renditions of some of the greatest Beatles melodies such as: While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Come Together, Something, Yesterday, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, A Day in the Life-to name just a few.

Day's vision of the band from the start was a dynamic rhythm section to go with the slide guitar. Didar and Mike form that tight rhythm section. Day was also looking for Beatles songs with strong, beautiful and popular melodies. We're all about the melody interacting with the groove!
